Janet Rechtman, Ph.D.

(Retired) University of Georgia’s J. W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development and Co-Founder & Board Member for the Global Forum for Civic Affairs.

Before retiring in 2019, Janet served as co-leader of the University of Georgia’s J. W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development, traveling across the state, helping community groups to build their leadership teams and community connections. Before joining UGA, Janet served as an independent consultant to nonprofit organizations, assisting in strategic planning, evaluation, marketing, communications, and leadership development. In addition, she chaired the International Leadership Association’s 18th Global Conference, bringing 1,200 teachers, researchers, and practitioners from 55 countries to Atlanta. She is Chair Emeritus of the Board of Directors for the Foxfire Foundation, the YWCA of Greater Atlanta, and Senior Connections, and a member of the board of directors of the National Youth Advocate Program and now, the Global Forum.
